Gastrovino: luxury food items to tempt the taste buds

Michiel

Gastrovino is a local delicatessen with branches all over The Netherlands, specialising in the very best food and drink from near and far. The perfect place to come for that something special, a gift perhaps to take to a friend, or just that something different from your usual shopping which will bring a smile to everyone’s face.

The branch in Enschede is run by husband and wife team, Michiel and Hanneke. Gastrovino is a cooperative: a group of like-minded businesses all trading under the same name, collectively and exclusively importing a unique range of wines, while still maintaining a degree of flexibility which allows each shop to be entirely unique. Some products can be found in all the shops while other shops will specialise in local produce or other areas of interest.

Local produce

Local produce
A vast array of local produce from the Twente region of The Netherlands. Flour from the local mill in Lonneker, wine from Twente Wijn in Boekelo, local honey – both set and clear, local fruit juices and jams, and even a Twente cookbook!

A nice cup of tea?

Tea
Drinking tea the Dutch way! Tea in the Netherlands is always black and usually served in a glass mug which makes its easier to see the strength of the tea. No teapot – just a mug of hot water and a lovely filter with a generous teaspoon of the flavour of your choice, and there are so many to choose from. And of course, a little sweet treat on the side!
White Champagne tea
White Champagne Tea when served in a clear mug allows you to appreciate the beautiful colour. I spent a lovely morning a couple of weeks ago, working in the cafe and watching life pass me by. I did buy some tea to take home!

More tea or perhaps some coffee?

tea
Anyone for tea? Just a few different flavours to choose from! You can buy three smaller tasting bags for €2.50 to help you decide… A complete bargain!

Ham and pâté from near and far

A fine selection of hams and pate with the Serrano ham being one of their best sellers!

Chocolate

Chocolate
One of the many delights of living in the Netherlands is the availability of fresh, handmade, high quality chocolate in a vast array of flavours. Instead of having to buy a box with flavours you may not like, you can pick your favourite flavours, and then, maybe even an extra one to eat on the way home as an extra treat!

Anyone for some nuts?

Dutch people LOVE to snack on a huge variety of nuts and many are bought freshly roasted from local delicatessens such as Gastrovino here in Enschede. So many nuts! Macadamia nuts are firm favourites.

Wine

Wine
Lots of different and interesting wine on offer, wine which you don’t perhaps find in other shops. I have always been pleasantly surprised!
